Interested in working with cutting edge technologies and high-volume systems to solve issues between buyers and sellers?eBay Austin is looking for talented and highly motivated software engineer interns to work on new features that will improve eBay the shopping experience. We are revamping the way online shopping happens across the entire industry. Given the vast amount of data we have and massive number of transactions going through eBay, we are positioned better than anyone in the world to analyze and optimize the e-commerce experience.The candidate is expected to be a self-starter, team player and strong driver for results and continual improvement. First, you will work with huge amounts of data utilizing our data warehouse and Hadoop platforms. Data mining, machine learning, analytics – you will be doing all of it. Second, you will be learning how big distributed systems powering biggest e-commerce website are working. Services should be reliable, scalable and fast. You will learn how are we doing that and will help us to find ways to improve. .eBay Inc. interns will participate in a challenging 10-12 week summer program, then return to school in the fall. Summer interns will obtain practical work experience, learn about the eBay Inc. businesses, and receive mentorship from their manager and team. Summer Interns will set goals/objectives with their managers at the start of the internship, and complete end of summer performance evaluations.
Job Requirements
- Strong software development skills in Java or C++- Great problem solving skills, passion for quality - Interest in grid computing/large scale clusters- Strong written and verbal communication skills- Ability to work in a fast paced, iterative development environment
