Arc90 is looking for a talented linux sysadmin to join our team.
We're a small firm of design-driven, passionate technologists who work in midtown Manhattan. We wear a lot of hats, both as an organization and as individuals. We're a full service web consulting firm, but we're also a product and R&D shop.
For your role, we're looking for a linux system administrator with a strong background for automation of tasks and setting and following standards, and a focus on stability and maintainability of server environments.

Your responsibilities at Arc90 will include:

• Direct ownership for server/site uptime for 2 product lines (25+ servers)
• Direct ownership for scaling systems
• Capacity management for all environments
• Supporting dev and test environments for the team
• Implementing best practices (server configuration, security, etc)
• Staying current on software updates for technologies in use and determine appropriate time lines for upgrades
• Reporting on the state of the environment and make recommendations for change as appropriate
• Working closely with the team to ensure the needs of the platform are defined and met

Skills & Requirements

Regarding skillset, you definitely:

• Are a smart, motivated, focused person who enjoys participating in crafting and scaling great software
• Are an expert in Linux system administration
• Have experience with Amazon EC2 and the AWS stack (we use fun stuff like S3, ELB, ElastiCache, CloudFront, RDS, IAM, SES)
• Have experience with queuing or asynchronous task systems
• Have experience scaling up web applications
• Have proficiency in at least one scripting language (python, ruby, whatever)
• Are living in NYC or looking to move here
• Are qualified to work in the United States without sponsorship (Sorry, we can't currently sponsor H1-B candidates.)
• Are a good communicator and enjoy working with teams of smart folks
• Have opinions on the right way to do things, and are comfortable sharing them, respectfully

Additionally, it'd be nice if you:

• Have an interest in, or want to learn more about, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
• Understand and enjoy HTTP and RESTful web applications
