OBJECTIVES/SCOPE:
To assume technical responsibility for the design and implementation of software solutions for work packages as required. To carry out maintenance and investigation activities at Aberdeen or offshore/offsite as required. To assist Service Support in providing support to Icon SCU and other MCS installed base systems. The jobholder will be responsible for the management of the quality of implementation of the design and will ensure that the work performed is in accordance with company procedures and the requirements of ISO9001/TickIT standards.
•Managing the development, implementation, test and maintenance of software work within the project assigned.
•Ensure allocated workscopes are produced within budget and timescale.
•Monitor allocated workscopes and report current status, estimate to complete and resource requirements to leader/supervisor.
•Assist leader/supervisor with estimates of effort and best technical solution at bid stage.
•Assist leader/supervisor to ensure members work together as a team.
•Demonstrate commitment to ASL Operating Procedure and the processes of continuous improvement.
•Ensure all work activities are in accordance with ASL procedures.
•Adhere to ASL Quality Control processes and procedures.
•Working offshore/overseas for system install, commissioning, maintenance and support as required.
•Identifying processes and patterns of work areas and recommending procedures to improve standardisation and consistency of approach to SEDS Manager.
•Monitoring trends and new products in the marketplace, which could benefit the company, and recommending to SEDS Manager/Lead Engineer.
In addition to the duties listed, the jobholder is required to perform other duties assigned by his/her Manager/lead Engineer from time to time.
Qualifications & Experience:
•Degree or HNC/HND with relevant industry experience
•Experience with development & programming of PLC and SCADA system
•Experience with programming languages C, C++, Assembler
•Demonstrable relevant Software Engineering experience preferably within the Oil and Gas industry
•Will have a sound working knowledge of offshore working techniques and ideally will have had exposure to the offshore working environment
•Demonstrable experience in the ability to carry out all elements of Software design within Controls Systems
•Preferably Chartered Engineer Status
Candidates/job-holders without the relevant formal qualifications above but possessing other academic or vocational qualifications or who can demonstrate a greater level of relevant practical experience with a proven track-record may be considered equally competent
Specific Training/Specialist Skills:
•Knowledge of control systems PLC, PC’s and SCADA
•Computer systems operation/configuration experience in Microsoft Operating Systems.
•IT desktop experience such as word processors, spreadsheets and databases.
•Knowledge of networking and communication protocols
•Knowledge of engineering drawings
•Understanding/experience of the oil and gas industry
•Understanding/experience in working with ISO 9001 operating procedures
•Understanding/experience of SAP
•Understanding/experience of Software Version Control
•Understanding/experience of IEC 61508 Functional safety
•Understanding/experience of software version control
•Understanding/experience of software development processes
•Understanding/experience of test methodologies
