You will architect, develop, and evolve the software we need to take eBay to the next level of 21st century computing.
You will research, evaluate, integrate, and create best-of-breed software that eliminates human involvement in all administrative and operational aspects of network and computing infrastructure from "bare metal" installation and deployment through automated recovery, and automatic scaling / tuning. You will specify and develop the low-level application programmer interfaces (APIs) for our next-generation large-scale back-end data systems (Hadoop) and computing infrastructure. You will provide the "plumbing" and low-level, recovery-oriented APIs that will take eBay to the next level of efficient, flexible, scalable, large-scale systems. You will work closely with the Seattle-based next-generation team that develops and maintains the Hadoop platform.
The ideal candidate will have a great mix of deep technical skills in operations, software engineering, infrastructure, and architecture. Experience in large-scale systems and recovery oriented computing are required.
